Pyrex is an American brand of glass products for professional catering, created in 1915, operated in France by the French group International Cookware in Châteauroux. The brand now belongs to the American group Corning.
From 1915, a complete line of Pyrex glass dishes is ready to invade American kitchens. The first flagship product is a pie dish which, according to legend, gives its name to the Pyrex brand (from the American Py right which was changed to Pyrex to rhyme with Nonex). The brand arrives in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century with its line of glass products. In 1922, the Le Pyrex Company was founded. Beyond dishes, casseroles, molds, and glass preparation utensils, Pyrex now offers a range of non-stick metal molds and dishes, microwave plastic containers, ceramic dishes and molds, as well as stainless steel pots and pans. In the spring of 2007, after two years of development, the Pyrex Elegance glass and metal product brand is born. The Châteauroux factory produces 32 and 35 million pieces per year.
